TEIS Careers
Early intervention lays the foundation for infants and young children with disabilities and developmental delays so they can reach their fullest potential in school and in life.
In Tennessee, early intervention is provided through a program called Tennessee Early Intervention System (TEIS) under the Department of Disability and Aging (DDA). DDA employs a team of early intervention professionals and contracts with a network of providers to provide support and services to families with children eligible for the program.
With a career in early intervention, you can change the course of a child’s life by showing families how they can help their child learn and develop. You will provide guidance, empower families, and see the impact of your work every day.
Every child deserves a chance to succeed. Help thousands of babies and toddlers across Tennessee by being a part of this life changing program. Learn more about the opportunities available within Tennessee Early Intervention System (TEIS) below.
Service Coordination
TEIS Service Coordinators are employed by the State of Tennessee and provide case management for families of infants and young children with developmental delays and/or disabilities who are enrolled in TEIS. They play a critical role in helping children in TEIS reach their optimal development by working directly with families to arrange therapies and share community resources, encouraging families to be advocates for their children.

Pediatric Audiologist (AUD)
A clinical audiologist is able to test and treat hearing loss. Pediatric audiologists provide services from birth to 21 years of age with hearing or processing concerns. Within the early intervention community, audiologists provide routine evaluations to monitor hearing sensitivity, most often following risk factors identified at birth. If that patient has any risk factors for hearing loss, hearing sensitivity will be monitored routinely until the age of 3. Should a hearing loss be identified, the audiologist would provide treatment via amplification. There are many forms of amplification which are determined based on the nature of hearing loss.
