Job Description
The Department Disability and Aging (“DDA”) is looking for Registered Nurse 2’s to provide nursing care for people with disabilities.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in working in a challenging and rewarding career supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their home and community.
Key Responsibilities
- Participates in planning meetings and assists with the development and adjustment of individualized support plans (“ISPs”) to achieve specific outcomes derived from the preferences, needs, and interests of persons supported.
- Performs nursing care according to physicians’ orders, including medication administration and evaluation, emergency response, etc.
- Determines if patient goals and interventions are effective.
- Completes and maintains patient health records, including medication records/sheets, documentation of patient information and family health history, and legal record of service.
- Gathers and prepares specimens for diagnostic tests to determine patient’s health status.
- Educates patients and/or family on the skills needed to maintain physical and mental health, including building positive relationships, and increasing self-esteem.
- Maintains an adequate, current, and secure inventory of health care supplies, drugs, instruments, and other accountable items.
- Ensures that medical equipment and designated work areas are kept clean, serviceable, and free of safety hazards.
- Assigns job duties and activities to subordinates.
Education and Experience
- Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee.
- May require a valid motor vehicle operator license.
