Criminal Justice Liaisons

The Criminal Justice Liaison Program is a community program to facilitate communication and coordination between the community, criminal justice, and behavioral health systems to achieve common goals of decriminalizing substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, and mental illness.

Criminal Justice Liaisons work directly with the local jails and court system to facilitate access to persons with substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, and/or mental illness who come in contact with the criminal justice system due to incarceration or at risk of incarceration in order to determine what services are needed and what referrals are necessary to redirect the service recipient from jail and the court system.  They engage individuals already in jail to assist in the development of a release plan that will support successful integration into the community.
