Victim Services

The Board of Parole provides services to crime victims who are navigating the parole process. Crime victims have the right to be notified of parole hearings involving offenders in their case. However, victims must register with the Board of Parole to receive these services.

Victims may also file a Victim Impact Statement with the Board. The statement becomes part of the offender's file that is reviewed by Board Members when the offender becomes eligible for parole consideration. Victim Services personnel assist victims of crime by providing information on the parole process, and may even attend parole hearings to provide support to victims.

If you are a victim of crime, please review the information below to determine which services you need.

In accordance with Tennessee law, the Board of Parole Victim Services Division will not release any identifying information on registered victims of crime, their family members and/or registered interested members of the public. All information is kept confidential. Our key goal is to assure victims' legal rights are being upheld throughout the parole process.

Our vision for victims and survivors of crime is that their voices are heard, valued and included in a collective effort to hold offenders accountable, prevent future harm and enhance community safety.

Letter from BOP's Victim Services Director

If you are visiting this page, it is likely that you or someone you know is a victim of crime. We know crime has a tremendous impact on victims, family and friends of victims and the community as a whole. The Victim Services Division is here to help you navigate the parole process. We cannot change what has occurred, but we hope to provide resources to make the journey ahead a little less confusing. Most victims feel confused, angry and overwhelmed by the criminal justice system. We want to help you understand the process so you do not feel re-victimized by it. We also want to provide you with information on many actions that occur regarding parole. And we want to make sure you have a voice throughout the parole process. We invite you to explore our Victim Services pages. Here, you will find information about services we can provide, victim services personnel and links to other victim service agencies and referral services around the state and nation. If you or a loved one is a victim of crime, review our forms to decide if you want to sign up for our services. Using these forms, you can:

File a notification request
File a victim impact statement or
File a change of address with us if you move. Doing so will ensure that you stay informed about the offender in your case.

Remember: you have the right to be notified of hearings and outcomes concerning the offender(s) in your case. I encourage you to fill out a notification request to receive this information.
