About the SEOW
What is the SEOW?
SAMHSA funds the State Epidemiological Outcomes Workgroup (SEOW) to bring together stakeholders to identify substance use data and analyze the consequences of substance use. SEOW data guides substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery policy and programs.
What does the SEOW do?
Facilitate collaboration across state and local agencies
- Create a common language about substance use disorders
- Share information with a variety of audiences
- Build the capacity for stakeholders to use data
Evaluate the causes and consequences of substance use disorders
- Organize data from state and local sources
- Use data to identify priority populations
- Use data to identify emerging trends
Support data-driven planning and decision making
- Use data to inform planning and policy
- Promote interagency substance use prevention
- Promote effective and efficient treatment and recovery strategies
