Nashville – Attorney General Herbert H. Slatery III announced that Tennessee, along with 45 other attorneys general, has obtained a $1.25 million multistate settlement with Florida-based Carnival Cruise Line after a 2019 data breach that involved the personal information of approximately 180,000 Carnival employees and customers nationwide. Tennessee will receive $19,855.20 from the settlement.

Slatery III announced that Tennessee will receive nearly $5 million dollars in a settlement with Mallinckrodt, which sells and markets pharmaceutical products throughout the nation. The total value of the settlement is approximately $233 million, plus interest, to be paid over a period of seven years. (Intuit), for deceiving consumers into paying for tax services that should have been free. All 50 states and the District of Columbia have signed onto the agreement. In Tennessee, approximately 111,000 consumers will be eligible to receive payments of about $30 for each year during tax years 2016-2018 they used a paid TurboTax product when they qualified to file free through the IRS program.
