Governor's Volunteer Stars Awards

Clay County Adult Derek Scott

The Governor's Volunteer Stars Awards recognizes Tennessee’s exceptional volunteers who are making a lasting impact in their communities through volunteering and community service.  Participating counties lead a local process to select an adult and youth honoree and inspire people of all ages to get involved and make a difference in their communities.

Every year, 1.9 million Tennessee volunteers give over 134.7 million hours of service, contributing the equivalent of $4 billion to Tennessee’s economy. These volunteers are the backbone of our communities, and by giving of their time and talents to fulfill needs which would otherwise go unmet, they embody the spirit of giving.  Governor's Volunteer Stars honorees give of their time in a variety of ways, from tutoring in elementary schools to building with Habitat for Humanity, and in honoring them and their service, Volunteer Tennessee hopes to strengthen communities and foster a climate of volunteerism.
