Tennessee Main Street Program

The Tennessee Main Street® Program serves as a statewide resource for communities seeking to revitalize and manage their traditional downtown districts. Tennessee Main Streets report reinvestment statistics for their downtown commercial districts each year. Key indicators tracked include the number of net new jobs, businesses, building rehabilitation projects, housing units, public investment and private investment.

TNECD provides several services and programs for the Main Street communities. Strategic planning services will produce a three-year plan of transformational strategies for each downtown district. Additionally, a Main Street Entrepreneur Grant program encourages adaptive reuse of historic commercial buildings and entrepreneur training. The façade improvement program allows for building rehabilitation.

Key Performance Indicator: 900 new jobs and 250 net new businesses will be created in 46 accredited Main Streets during the calendar year.

*Reinvestment statistics for each calendar year will be available in the first quarter of the following calendar year
