To facilitate dynamic and continued change, break societal and systemic barriers, and empower returning citizens to successfully evoke the next chapter of their lives.

The Tennessee Department of Correction is committed to supporting individuals as they transition back into the community by providing reentry services that promote long-term success after incarceration.

What are reentry services and resources?

Reentry services and resources are available to assist individuals returning to the community after incarceration. These services are designed to reduce barriers and promote success. Tennessee Department of Correction provides support with obtaining safe and stable housing, transportation assistance, job training, resume writing, job placement, college placement, budgeting, family reunification, veteran's benefits, voting rights restoration, vital document obtainment (drivers license/identification card, birth certificate, social security card, DD214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty), and connections to local community resources.

Why is reentry important?

Reentry services are essential for helping individuals successfully leave incarceration and build a new life. These services provide guidance and resources. Providing reentry services helps reduce repeat offenses and creates a safer Tennessee.
