Georgia Department of Transportation to hold a Public Information Open House for P.I. No. 620490- Fannin County, GA & Polk County, TN
On (4:00 pm to 7:00 pm) in the the Georgia Department of Transportation will hold a (PIOH) concerning the project listed above. The church is located at 1477 Blue Ridge Drive, Blue Ridge, GA, 30513.
The proposed project begins at approximately Old Flowers Road at the southern end of the project and continues north for approximately 0.6 miles until approximately 150 feet south of Holly Lane. This section of the project consists of a rural two-lane road. The proposed right-of- way varies between 110 and 130 feet. Both travel lanes will be 12-feet wide on existing pavement. Shoulder improvements will be constructed with a ten-foot shoulder within which 6.5 feet will be paved with of 16-inch rumble strips immediately abutting the road. At Colton Avenue, the existing road transitions to an urban two-lane road within the existing right-of-way between 50 to 70-feet wide. Both travel lanes are 12-feet wide with variable shoulder width. Right of way and permanent easement will be required for the new roadway. The new corridor width varies between 80 to 90 feet of proposed right-of-way with 10 to 20 feet of permanent easements for a total corridor width of 90 to 110 feet. Proposed travel lanes are 11-feet wide with 12-foot shoulders.
The project continues along SR 5 for approximately 0.7 miles, then the roadway forks at a proposed roundabout between 1st Street and School Street, with one section continuing northeast along the existing SR 5/Blue Ridge Drive alignment for approximately 0.4 miles, where the project terminates across the Toccoa River at the intersection with Toccoa Avenue.
The project proposes to construct a new location roadway approximately 1.1 miles in length. Beginning at the proposed roundabout between 1st Street and School Street, the roadway continues northwest crossing into Tennessee, then turns to the northeast and bridges over W Tennessee Ave, the Ocoee River, the existing railroad and Tennessee SR 68/Ocoee Street. The roadway then loops around toward the southeast and ties into Tennessee SR 68/Ocoee Street approximately 200 feet north of Main Street. The proposed roadway is a rural 2-lane new location road with one 12-foot travel lane in both directions. The outside shoulders would be 10-feet wide, 4-feet of which will be paved with 16-inch milled rumble strips. The required right-of-way for the road project varies between 80 and 350 feet. In total, there are two roundabouts proposed for this project. One roundabout would be at SR 5/Blue Ridge Drive at the SR 5 Connector. The other roundabout would be at the SR 5 Connector and SR 68 (TN)/Ocoee Street.
The purpose of this PIOH is to provide the public with an opportunity to view the proposed project, ask questions, and to provide an opportunity for the public to comment on the project. The Open House will be held from . It will be informal, and the public is invited to attend anytime during these hours. There will be no formal presentation.
