Update: Highway 70N back open in Hawkins County

TRAFFIC ALERT

HANCOCK AND HAWKINS COUNTIES

KNOXVILLE – On Monday afternoon, May 21st, Highway 70N in Eidson reopened to one lane of traffic.  The roadway had been closed since April 16th due to an unstable rockslope.

There will be temporary closures of the roadway for up to 30 minutes as rockfall mitigation work in this area continues.  The due date for total project completion is June 30, 2018.

Motorists are advised to use extreme caution in this area as workers will be present.  The TDOT SmartWay system will have real-time information on traffic conditions, and is accessible at SmartWay.tn.gov.
