Cumberland County, I-40 West near MM 326, construction of a truck climbing lane, including grading, drainage, construction of retaining walls and paving:  Work on this project continues.  Construction signs have been installed on I-40 westbound.  The right shoulder will be closed for the duration of the project as grade work activities are in progress constructing the truck lane and outside shoulder.  Base stone and underdrains have been installed.  The contractor has submitted a cool weather paving plan for A-S and A mixes as conditions will allow.  Both retaining walls are complete.  Temporary closures will only be allowed from 7PM to 6AM Sundays through Thursdays.  A minimum of one lane must be maintained at all times.  No lane closures will be allowed during special events, holidays or holiday weekends in accordance with the plans and specifications.  Estimated project completion date is June 2018.  [Rogers Group, Inc./Bradley/CNQ329]

Cumberland County, SR-101 (Peavine Road) grading, drainage, and paving from Firetower Road to Westchester/Catoosa Boulevard:  Work on this project continues.  Construction signs have been installed.  Traffic control and erosion control measures are installed. Storm drain installation, box culvert construction, utility relocation, and grade work activities are in progress. Temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages may be needed to support grade work activities.  Motorists should be alert for construction personnel and equipment along SR-101 Peavine Road.  Estimated project completion date is November 2020.  [Rogers Group. CUMBERLAND COUNTY miscellaneous safety improvements on various state routes and local roads: The contractor will be installing permanent signs and guardrail using portable signs and flaggers as needed.  Estimated project completion date is May 2018.  [Superior Traffic Control, Inc./Bradley/CNR944]

Franklin county, SR-476 bridge repair over the Elk River (L.M. 3.39) and Hurricane Creek (L.M. 7.40):  Work on this project continues. The bridge is reduced to one 9’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice.  Estimated project completion date is October 2018.  [Mid-State Construction Co., Inc./Parnham/CNQ930]

Franklin county, SR-127 the construction of a concrete Bulb-Tee beam bridge over the Elk River (L.M. 6.21), including grading, drainage and paving:  Work on this project continues.  The bridge will be reduced to one 10.5’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice.  Estimated project completion date is October 2018.  [Simpson Construction Co., Inc./Parnham/CNR044]

Grundy County, SR-56 bridge repair over Pepper Hollow Branch (LM 31.24):  Work on this project continues.  The contractor will be performing bridge repairs on SR-56 over the Pepper Hollow Branch waterway.  The initial construction will be in the southbound lane.  During these repairs the southbound lane will be closed and a temporary traffic light system will control traffic over the single northbound lane that will be open to traffic.  An additional traffic light will control traffic from Teeters Lane at the north end of the project.  Once repairs are completed on the southbound lane the lane closure will switch over to the northbound lane and the traffic light system will control the traffic in the single southbound lane.  Estimated project completion date is April 2018.  [Jamison Construction, LLC/Voiles/CNQ345]

HAMILTON COUNTY, I-24 East bridge repair over Chestnut Street at mile marker 178.6 near the U.S. 27 interchange and safety improvements on the bridges over the CSX Railroad and over U.S. 27:  Work on this project is completed pending final inspection.  Estimated project completion date is January 2018.  [Dement Construction Co., LLC/Pruett/CNR031]

HAMILTON COUNTY, U.S. 27 (I-124) widening from I-24/U.S. 27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge:  Work on this project continues.  The contractor has closed the 12th Street tie-in ramp to U.S. 27 South.  This closure will be in place until April 2018.  Traffic from 12th Street will be detoured to Carter Street and then to Westbound MLK where motorists may access the U.S. 27 South on-ramp.  Detours are posted.  Motorists should exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone and pay close attention to the detour signage posted.  The speed limit on U.S. 27 in the construction zone is 45 MPH.  Weather permitting, the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on weeknights between the hours of 7PM and 6AM.  At least one lane will remain open in each direction on U.S. 27.  THP will assist with traffic control on the project as necessary.  Estimated project completion date is July 2019.  [Dement Construction Co., LLC/JM/CNP230]

Hamilton County, SR-320 (East Brainerd Road) grading, drainage, installation of signals, construction of seven retaining walls and paving from east of Graysville Road to east of Bel-Air Road:  Work on this project continuesDuring this report period, the contractor may have intermittent lane closures between 9AM-2PM.  This work may affect either direction of East Brainerd Road or side streets from Graysville Road to Bel-Air Road.  Because the contractor needs to access the left side of the road to work on the next phase of the project, he recently performed a traffic shift on East Brainerd Road from Fuller Road to end of project past Banks Road.  Traffic is currently traveling on the newly-paved section from Fuller Road to the end of project.  Banks Road traffic will access the new section by traveling West on the existing pavement and entering the new section of roadway at Everett Drive.  The contractor will be closing Banks Road at East Brainerd Road from Monday January 8, 2018 to Friday, January 12, 2018 to complete water main installation, place fill material, stone subgrade and asphalt to tie Banks Road into East Brainerd Road.  Detour signage will be posted routing traffic down Morris Hill Road to Igou Gap to Banks and vice versa.  Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.  Estimated project completion date is June 2018. Hamilton County, SR-153/SR-319 (Hixson Pike) bridge repair on Hixson Pike over SR-153:  Work on this project is substantially complete and all lanes are open to traffic.  If there are any lane closures needed to finish up the project, they will be temporary.  Estimated project completion date is May 2018. HAMILTON COUNTY, U.S. 11 (SR-2/Brainerd Rd.) resurfacing from McCallie Tunnel (LM 11.83) to east of Moore Rd. (LM 13.85):  Work on this project is complete pending final inspection.  Estimated project completion date is January 2018. [Talley Construction/Pruett/CNR218]

Hamilton County, the tunnel cleaning of the McCallie Tunnel on U.S. 11 (US 64, SR-2), the Stringers Ridge Tunnel on U.S. 127 (SR-8), and the Bachman Tubes on U.S. 41 (U.S. 76, SR-8):  The nighttime cleaning operation of McCallie Tunnels, Stringers Ridge Tunnel, and Bachman Tubes occurs between 8PM-6AM.  Tunnels will be closed during cleaning, and detours will be marked accordingly as each tunnel is cleaned.  Contract completion date is June 2018.  [ETI Environmental, Inc./Micka/CNR223]

Marion County, I-24 East resurfacing from the Grundy County Line (LM 0.00/MM 133) to east of the bridge over Cave Cove Creek (LM 6.36/MM141) in Monteagle:  Work on this project is complete pending final inspection and possible addressing of punchlist items.  Estimated project completion date is January 2018.  [Rogers Group, Inc./Parnham/CNQ381]

McMinn County, I-75 resurfacing from near mile marker 39 to the SR-30 bridge near mile marker 49:  This project is complete pending addressing punchlist items, which will occur in the spring.  [Rogers Group, Inc./Curtis/CNR201]

MCMINN COUNTY, SR-30, grading, drainage and paving on S.R. 30 from Jackson Street to east of Knight Road in Athens:  Work on this project continues.  This project will upgrade SR-30 from a four-lane lane divided roadway to a five-lane urban-type roadway (two lanes in each direction with continuous center turn lane) and include curb, gutter and ADA-compliant sidewalks on both sides throughout the project area.  The contractor has implemented the first phase traffic shift.  The eastbound lanes are closed to traffic, and all traffic is using the existing westbound lanes, which have been marked and signed as a two-lane undivided highway from east of Jackson Street to east of Knight Road.  Crossovers to businesses are reduced, but all businesses remain accessible.  The first phase traffic shift is estimated to remain in effect through January 2019.  Estimated project completion date is October 2019.  [Talley Construction Company, Inc./Micka/CNR078.]

Overton County, SR-52 grading, drainage, signals and paving from near Oakley-Allons Road (LM 6.58) to DR-111 (LM 10.23):  Work on this project continues.  Tower Hill Road at the Allons Baptist Church on SR-52 has been closed until further notice.  The closure will allow the contractor to bring the road up to grade.  The detour for this closure is Elmer Langford Road.  The contractor may have short term lane closures on the project to perform various operations on as-needed basis.  Estimated project completion date is July 2018.  [J&M Grading Division, LLC/Hoskins/CNP114]

Overton County, SR-84 bridge repair over branch (LM 10.16):  Work on this project continues.  The bridge is reduced to one 10’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice.  Estimated project completion date is January 2018.  [Jamison Construction, LLC/Hoskins/CNQ940]

Polk County, U.S. 64 (SR-40) construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over Branch and TOHA Old Line railroad (LM 24.85), including grading, drainage and paving:  Work on this project continues.  There will be intermittent lane closures as the contractor works to cut the embankment for the retaining wall.  The traveling public is advised to be cautious around flaggers and construction workers in the construction zone.  Estimated project completion date is May 2019.  [Talley Construction Co., Inc./Curtis/CNQ900]

 Putnam County, I-40 grading, drainage, construction of two concrete Bulb-Tee beam bridges, signals and paving at Mine Lick Creek Road (MM 283/LM 15.56) and construction of a State Industrial Access Road (Mine Lick Creek Road) serving Project Victor, including grading, drainage and paving:  Work on this project continues.  Work on this project continues. The bridge at Exit 283 is currently open for Phase 1 traffic, allowing one lane of travel in each direction.  Phase 2 of the bridge is currently closed with flexible drums and barricades.  When exiting 283 westbound, the motoring public is able to access the intersection of Hawkins Crawford/Mine Lick Creek Road.  Currently the south portion of the Local Interchange Connector Road is closed to traffic.  The contractor is currently working to bring the southbound Phase 2 grading work to proper elevation.  Following will be the placement of base stone and asphalt binder mixes.  Texture coating and pressure washing operations are tentatively scheduled for the week of January 7th thru January 11th, weather dependent, and will be performed at night between 8:00PM and 5:00AM.  The contractor will utilize lane closures in each direction to complete this work.  THP will be on site to assist with traffic control.  The contractor will utilize (2) queue trucks for advanced notice to the motoring public as this work is performed.  Motorists are advised to observe the posted speed limits when entering the work zone and be alert to construction personnel, equipment and vehicles.  Estimated project completion date is April 2018.  [Charles Blalock & Sons, Inc./Sorrelle/CNP247]

Putnam County, grading, drainage and paving on a State Industrial Access road serving Institutional Wholesale in Algood:  Work on this project continues.  The contractor completed placement of asphalt binder and topping mix on mainline from Station 50+00 to 77+00 on Burton Branch Road and the topping tie ins for Dry Valley Road.  The permanent pavement marking has now been completed.  Motorists are advised to observe the posted speeds when entering the work zone and be alert to construction personnel, equipment and vehicles.  Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed to complete any remaining items.  No lane closures will be allowed during special events, holidays or holiday weekends in accordance with the plans and specifications.  Estimated project completion date is January 2018.  [Rogers Group, Inc./Sorrelle/CNQ136]

PUTNAM COUNTY, Old Baxter Road bridge repair over I-40 (L.M. 2.89):  Work on this project continues.  The contractor will be installing the deck steel reinforcement during this period in preparation for the concrete deck pour.  Barrier rail is installed on the inside and outside shoulders for bridge access.  Motorists should use extreme caution and be alert to construction equipment and personnel.  Estimated project completion date is May 2018.  [Bell & Associates Construction, L.P./Sorrelle/CNR066]

PUTNAM COUNTY, SR-135 resurfacing from south of Jackson Street (LM 9.75) to north of SR-290 (LM 11.64):  Work on this project continues.  The contractor has completed mix placement for mainline SR-135.  The contractor is scheduled to begin placement of mix on side roads when weather permits.  Nightly lane closures will be performed Sunday night thru Thursday night from 7:00PM to 6:00AM.  THP will be on site to assist during this time.  No lane closures will be allowed during special events, holidays or holiday weekends in accordance with the plans and specifications. Region 2, preventative and unscheduled maintenance of Chattanooga SmartWay Intelligent Transportation System:  The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform preventative and unscheduled maintenance to the Chattanooga SmartWay intelligent transportation system.  Work hours are 9AM-3:30PM.  At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times.  Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.  Contract completion date is October 2019.  [NABCO Electric Company, Inc./Pruett/CNQ287]

REGION 2 random on-call spray thermoplastic pavement marking on various interstate and state routes:  Work on this project continues.  Retroreflectivity testing is being scheduled at this time for the longline spray thermoplastic locations in several counties.  The contractor has completed Call-Out 1 in Hamilton County with the exception of (2) locations which will be completed when weather permits.  Call-Out 2 in Cumberland County is complete.  No additional call-outs have been administered at this time.  All motorists should use caution and be alert to slow moving equipment while avoiding freshly painted pavement surfaces. REGION 2 random on-call painted pavement marking on various interstate and state routes:  Work on this project is complete.  Retroreflectivity testing is being scheduled at this time. Contract completion date is June 2018.  [Reynolds Sealing and Striping/Sorrelle/CNR058]

Region 2-on-call cable guardrail repair:  The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform cable barrier system repair.  At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times during any work that is performed.  Contract completion date is January 2018.  [Nationwide Construction Group/Parnham/CNQ282]

Region 2-on-call sweeping and drain cleaning on various interstates and state routes:  The contractor will have short term shoulder and/or lane closures at various locations in Region 2 at nighttime or during non-peak daytime hours in order to sweep and clean drains.  Contract completion date is February 2018.  [Blevins Enterprises, Inc./Micka/CNQ328]

Region 2-on-call concrete repair on various interstates and state routes:  The contractor will have short term shoulder and/or lane closures at various locations in Region 2 as necessary to perform concrete repair work.  Contract completion date is March 2018.  [Vulcan Construction Materials, LLC./Voiles/CNP327]

Rhea County, SR-302 bridge repair over Clear Creek (LM 2.57):  Work on this project continues.  Both lanes are now open to traffic.  Any work going forward that will require traffic interruptions will be handled by flaggers.  Estimated project completion date is January 2018.  [Jamison Construction, LLC/Micka/CNQ104]

Rhea County, U.S. 27 (SR-29) grading, drainage and paving at the intersection of SR-378 in Dayton (LM 6.53 – LM 6.80):  Work on this project is nearing completion.  The intersection is open to traffic and the new traffic signals are operational.  Any more lane closures, if necessary, will be temporary.  Estimated project completion date is January 2018.  [Talley Construction Co., Inc./Micka/CNR060]

RHEA County, SR-68 resurfacing from U.S. 27 (LM 8.33) to near Meigs County line (LM 15.16):  Work on this project has begun.  There will be temporary lane closures between 7AM and 7:30PM.  Flaggers will assist with traffic control.  Motorists should be alert for construction personnel and equipment.  Estimated project completion date is January 2018.  [Rogers Group, Inc./Micka/CNR205]

Van Buren and White Counties, miscellaneous safety improvements on various local roads in Van Buren County; miscellaneous safety improvements including high friction surface course on various local roads in White County:  Work on this project is nearing completion.  The contractor is scheduled to complete the remaining punchlist item at this time.  Estimated project completion date is January 2018.  [Superior Traffic Control, Inc./Sorrelle/CNQ265]

Warren County, SR-288 construction of a concrete Bulb-Tee beam bridge over Collins River (LM 4.97), including grading, drainage and paving:  Work on this project continues Work on Pier #2 Shaft 1 is ongoing; CSL Sonic Logging Testing on Pier #2 Shaft 1 is complete.  The bridge is currently reduced to one 12-ft. lane to allow the contractor to construct the new bridge.  While the bridge is down to one lane, traffic will be maintained and controlled by a temporary signal for the safety of the traveling public.  Motorists should expect periodic delays and use caution in the work zone. TDOT Operations/Maintenance Work and TDOT Bridge Inspections (TDOT Forces)

Region 2-Mowing and Brush Removal:  There will be possible short-term lane and shoulder closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to perform contract mowing and brush removal on an as-needed basis.  In addition to performing the work, regional Operations crews will also provide traffic control.  [TDOT Operations - Maintenance]

Region 2-Pothole Repair and Pavement Patching:  There will be possible short-term emergency lane closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to repair potholes and patch pavement on an as-needed basis.  Depending on location and severity these repairs may be done during the day or at night.  In addition to performing the work, regional Operations crews will also provide traffic control.  [TDOT Operations - Maintenance]

Non-TDOT Work

Hamilton County, I-75 North Exit 1 interchange reconfiguration project at mile marker 1:  Work on this project continues.  The project will result in a reconfiguration of the exit ramps and will combine both northbound exits (1A & 1B) into one, which will allow drivers to turn both east and west on Ringgold Road at a signalized intersection.  Traffic has been shifted onto the newly constructed portion of Camp Jordan Pkwy., and the intersection (I-75 NB off-ramp and SR-8/Camp Jordan Pkwy.) is now controlled by a new traffic signal.  Estimated project completion for the entire project is May 2018.  [C.W.
