NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews are preparing to begin work on a drainage and road improvement project on Murfreesboro Road at Vultee Boulevard.

The project scope includes adding a box culvert to improve drainage, adding a traffic signal at Kermit Drive, and removing the Vultee Boulevard bridge over Murfreesboro Road.

The Vultee Boulevard bridge will permanently close to traffic on Monday, October 30. Crews are tentatively scheduled to close Murfreesboro Road at Vultee Boulevard to remove the bridge during the weekend of November 3. Traffic will be detoured using East Thompson Lane and Briley Parkway. Additional information will be distributed once the closure has been confirmed based on the weather forecast.

The $4.2 million project was designed by Metro Water Services and construction is being managed by TDOT. The contract completion date is August 31, 2018.
