Weekly East Tennessee Construction Report for May 5-11, 2016
ANDERSON COUNTY, I-75 South near Mile Marker 125: On Thursday, May 5, 2016, motorists should be alert for a possible lane closure between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning. Beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016 through Sunday, May 8, 2016, I-75 North will be reduced to one lane around the clock in this area as crews perform repairs to the bridge over Peach Orchard Road. Motorists should be alert for lane shifts, narrowed lanes, slowed or stopped traffic, expect potential long delays during peak travel times and use extreme caution through this area.
ANDERSON COUNTY, I-75 North near Mile Marker 128: Two narrowed traffic lanes have been shifted to the left as crews perform bridge repairs to the outside lanes of the bridge over US 441 at Exit 128. During this time, the exit ramp to US 441 (Exit 128) will be closed and motorists should use Exit 129 to access this area. This ramp closure will be in effect for approximately two weeks. Motorists should be alert for slowed or stopped traffic, expect potential long delays during peak travel times and use extreme caution through this area.
ANDERSON COUNTY, SR 61 between the Roane County Line (Log Mile 0) and Midway Drive (Log Mile 2.7): Motorists should be alert for lane closures through this project as crews construct turn lanes in this area. Motorists should be alert for workers present and use caution in this area.
BLOUNT COUNTY, US 129/SR 115 between US 411 and the Monroe County Line: Motorists should be alert for temporary lane closures daily with flagging personnel directing traffic during daylight hours through this resurfacing project. Motorists should be alert for workers present and use extreme caution through this area.
BLOUNT COUNTY, US 129 Alcoa Highway at Topside Road: Motorists should be alert for lane shifts through this intersection improvement project. Motorists should be alert for workers present, expect potential delays and use extreme caution through this area.
BLOUNT COUNTY, US 129 Bridge over Nine Mile Creek at Log Mile 3.15: US 129 is reduced to one lane around the clock in this area and controlled by a temporary traffic signal as crews begin bridge repairs. The bridge is reduced to a single 9 foot travel lane. Traffic in excess of the 9 feet maximum width should follow signed detour route. Motorists should be alert for changed conditions, be prepared to stop and use extreme caution in this area.
CAMPBELL COUNTY, I-75 North and South between Mile Markers 135 and 140: Motorists should be alert for lane shifts, narrowed lanes, closed shoulders and use caution as crews construct truck climbing lanes through this area. On Saturday, May 7, 2016 through Saturday, May 14, 2016, motorists should be alert for possible nightly lane closures southbound between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning as crews set portable barrier rails through this project. Motorists should be alert for slowed or stopped traffic, expect potential delays and use extreme caution through this area.

KNOX COUNTY, I-40 East and West between I-640 (Exit 385) and Papermill Drive (Exit 383): Motorists should be alert for temporary lane closures nightly on Sundays through Thursdays between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning through this resurfacing project. KNOX COUNTY, I-640 West between Mile Marker 8 and I-75 Interchange (Exit 3): On Monday, May 9, 2016, motorists should be alert for a brief rolling roadblock around 11 p.m. as crews perform attenuator repairs. Motorists should be alert for slowed or stopped traffic and use extreme caution approaching this area.
KNOX COUNTY, SR 62 (Oak Ridge Hwy. /Western Ave.) between Schaad Road and I-640: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures throughout this widening project. KNOX COUNTY, SR 33 Maynardville Highway between Afton Drive and Emory Road: Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures and lane shifts at various times as work continues through this construction project. The crossover to Andersonville Pike between SR 33 northbound and southbound is closed as crews continue grade work in this area. Traffic on SR 33 northbound wishing to access Andersonville Pike should follow detour signs to the intersection of SR 33 and Emory. KNOX COUNTY, US 441/SR 33/71 Henley Street near Clinch Avenue in Downtown Knoxville: KUB and its contractor will be performing work in Henley Street near Clinch Avenue. This work, part of the ongoing Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project, will span between the I-275/I-40 on ramp at the northern end and W. Hill Avenue at the southern end. Work will first begin in the Henley Street/Clinch Avenue intersection, including necessary work between the intersection and the I-275/I-40 on ramp, before moving south. Work will be done in phases, and will not impact all of Henley Street at one time. Active construction with lane closures will occur overnight between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., Monday through Friday, with prep-work activities and lane closures taking place only when necessary between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. MORGAN COUNTY, SR 116 Bridge over Stockstill Creek between Main Street and Cemetery Road in Petros: SR 116 in this area is reduced to one lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal as crews begin bridge repairs. Motorists should be alert for changed conditions and use extreme caution in this area.
MORGAN/ROANE COUNTY, US27/SR29 between Whetstone Road and SR 61: Motorists should be alert for closed shoulders and possible temporary lane closures with flagging personnel present at various times throughout this construction project. Motorists should be alert for reduced speeds and use extreme caution in this area.
ROANE COUNTY, I-40 East and West between Mile Markers 350 and 352: I-40 is reduced to one lane in each direction between Exit 350 (Midtown) and Exit 352 (Kingston) as crews perform bridge repairs. Traffic loads in excess of twelve feet (12’) in width are restricted through this area and must follow the designated detour route around this section of I-40. The I-40 East Wide Load Detour Route is take Exit 350 (Midtown), turn right onto Pine Ridge Road, then take a left onto US 70 and follow US 70 to SR 326 Gallaher Road, and enter I-40 at Exit 356 (Gallaher Road). The I-40 West Wide Load Detour Route is take Exit 356 (Gallaher Road), and follow SR 326 to US 70, follow US 70 to Pine Ridge Road, and enter I-40 at Exit 350 (Midtown). Motorists should expect potential long delays during peak travel times and use extreme caution while traveling through this area. Motorists should be alert that using US 70 through Kingston as an alternate route to avoid this work zone may result in potential long delays. This project is estimated to be completed on or before May 26, 2016.
SEVIER COUNTY, SR 66 in Sevierville SR 139 (Douglas Dam Rd.) and SR 338 W (Boyd’s Creek Hwy): On Thursday, May 5, 2016 and Sunday, May 8, 2016 through Thursday, May 12, 2016, motorists should be alert for temporary nightly lane closures between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning as crews perform work through this project. Motorists should be alert for possible temporary lane closures between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. as crews install poles in this area.
