Ramp Closures Scheduled Along I-40 in Shelby County

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will close several entrance and exit ramps along Interstate 40, between mile marker 15 and mile marker 21, in Shelby County, for concrete repairs in the coming weeks. The weekend closures are scheduled as follows.

Saturday, April 16 at 6:00 a.m. through Monday, April 18 at 5:00 a.m.

  • I-40 West ramps to/from Whitten Road (Exit 14) will be closed.
  • I-40 East entrance ramp from Germantown Road (Exit 18) will be closed.

Friday, April 22 at 8:00 p.m. through Monday, April 25 at 5:00 a.m.

  • I-40 West ramps to/from Whitten Road (Exit 14) will be closed.

Saturday, April 23 at 6:00 a.m. through Monday, April 25 at 5:00 a.m.

  • I-40 East ramps to/from Germantown Road (Exit 18) will be closed.

Message boards will alert motorists to the ramp closures. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and seek alternate routes during the expected ramp closures. As a reminder, no lane  or ramp closures will be allowed during holidays or holiday weekends or during major events such as the Beale Street Music Festival (April 29-May 1) or Memphis in May (May 12-14).

The scheduled work on I-40 is part of an ongoing paving project. The $16.2 million project is expected to be finished October 31, 2016.
