NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews plan to shift traffic on I-65 southbound near the I-24 east merge in Nashville for the continued widening of I-65 between Dickerson Pike and Trinity Lane. To prepare for the shift, lane closures are scheduled as follows.

Sunday, September 27, 1:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. (midnight) – I-65 South will be reduced to one lane.
Sunday, September 27, 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. (midnight) – I-24 East ramp to I-65 South will be closed. Detours will be in place.

During the lane and ramp closures, barrier wall will be moved and the roadway will be restriped. This work will restore a third lane of travel for I-65 southbound traffic and will provide a merge lane for I-24 eastbound traffic at the interchange.

The new traffic pattern will be similar to the final design of the widening project, which will expand I-65 from six to ten lanes. Motorists should be aware of the changes, and all drivers are reminded the speed limit in the work zone is 45 mph.

The $50 million project is expected to be finished in late 2015.
