Community Investments

The Community Investments Section oversees programs that enhance Tennessee’s scenic beauty, air quality, active transportation infrastructure, and access to state and federal funding. Through partnerships with local communities, initiatives such as Adopt-A-Highway, Keep Tennessee Beautiful, and the TDOT Litter Grant help prevent litter, improve landscapes, and preserve scenic roadways. Air quality efforts focus on reducing vehicle emissions and supporting cleaner transportation alternatives in alignment with the Clean Air Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). TDOT also promotes walking, bicycling, and rolling as essential transportation options that enhance community connectivity, public health, and overall quality of life. Additionally, TDOT manages state and federal grants to improve transportation infrastructure, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and maximizing investments that benefit Tennessee’s communities.
