NASHVILLE--Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions Commissioner Greg Gonzales announced today that the maximum effective formula rate of interest in Tennessee is 11.50 percent per annum. The rate is based on a ceiling of 4 percent over the weekly average prime loan rate of 7.50 percent as published by the Federal Reserve on July 7, 2025.

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) reports there was a single fatality over the July 4th holiday and Operation Dry Water weekend. The incident occurred on Center Hill Lake shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday evening (July 3) when a 57-year-old Brentwood woman jumped into a water from a ski boat and was fatality injured by the prop.

Preliminary figures from the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) show a significant drop in traffic fatalities across the state during the 2025 Independence Day holiday period. Four people were killed in crashes, compared to 18 during the same time frame in 2024.

As a safety precaution, Radnor Lake State Park has closed all pedestrian access at the South Lake and South Cove trails on the west end of the park as part of an ongoing project announced in May to make repairs to Otter Creek Road inside the park.
