Parent to Parent
What is Parent to Parent?
Parent to Parent provides one-to-one emotional support, information, and resources from a parent or caregiver, on a similar journey, caring for a child with a special health care need, chronic illness, or disability.
Parent to Parent can help by:
· Providing emotional support
· Connecting you to community resources
· Sharing first-hand experience and tips
· Making referrals to other agencies who can provide additional support
· Assisting in navigating your healthcare system
How does the program work?
Trained and experienced parents are carefully matched in one-to-one relationships with parents or caregivers of a child with a special health care need, chronic illness, or disability who are new to the program.
Who is eligible?
Any parent or caregiver of a child with a special health care need, chronic illness, or disability, who would like to be matched, is eligible. Parent to Parent serves all diagnoses and is connected to a national network of trained mentors.
Who should contact Parent to Parent?
Anyone can make a referral for a family of a child with a special health care need, chronic illness, or disability, provided that the referred family is aware and would welcome the match. Referrals might come, for example, from the parent or caregiver, another family member, a medical provider, or another hospital professional.
