MEMPHIS – The gymnasium at the Mark Luttrell Transition Center (MLTC) was filled with hopeful faces as the first in-person resource fair since last March returned to the facility.

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) is now accepting applications for the Middle Tennessee Citizens’ Correctional Academy. The academy is a five-week program designed to give Tennesseans an in-depth look at the state’s largest law enforcement agency. Classes will be held September 7 - October 5, 2021, at various TDOC locations.

Nashville – Death row inmate Steven L. Hugueley has passed away of apparent natural causes. Hugueley, 53, was pronounced deceased at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution at 2:35am Friday, July 16.

NASHVILLE – Inmate Curtis Watson has pled guilty to charges related to the murder of Correctional Administrator Debra K. Johnson.

NASHVILLE – Eighteen inmates participating in the Braille Transcription Program (BTP) at the Riverbend Maximum Security Institution (RMSI) received their Braille Transcription Certification from the National Library of Congress last week.

JOHNSON COUNTY – Former Northeast Correctional Complex employee Shannon Clark has been convicted of one count each of Introduction of Contraband and Official Misconduct by a Johnson County jury.

WARTBURG – An attempt to introduce a significant amount of contraband into the Morgan County Correctional Complex (MCCX) was thwarted this weekend. Officers at the facility were able to intercept a total of sixteen (16) packages wrapped in black electrical tape, containing marijuana, cell phones, and fentanyl.

NASHVILLE – After COVID-19 delayed pay raises for Tennessee Department of Correction Probation and Parole Officers (PPOs), Commissioner Tony Parker has announced that the well-deserved salary increases will occur, effective July 1, 2021.
