NASHVILLE – In accordance with state law, representatives from the following news media agencies have been selected to witness the execution of inmate Harold Nichols #146457.

NASHVILLE - Thanks to an agreement reached with Tennessee State University, the Department of Correction is expanding its large network of agricultural programs. On Monday, July 6, Commissioner Tony Parker signed an agreement that will allow land near the old Charles Bass Correctional Complex to be used in TSU’s agricultural sciences program.

HENNING – An arrest has been made after an internal investigation into a Correctional Officer’s attempt to introduce contraband into the West Tennessee State Penitentiary (WTSP).

NASHVILLE – In accordance with state law, the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) is now accepting applications from recognized Tennessee news organizations to serve as statutorily required witnesses for the scheduled execution of death row inmate Harold Nichols #146457.

Many parts of Tennessee are adjusting to a new normal in the age of COVID-19 and TDOC is no exemption. On Tuesday, some of the inmate work crews from the Turney Center Industrial Complex Annex in Wayne County resumed work, all while practicing safe social distancing protocol.

WARTBURG – An arrest has been made after an internal investigation into a scheme to introduce contraband into the Morgan County Correctional Complex (MCCX).

HENNING – At the West Tennessee State Penitentiary (WTSP) something special is growing behind the walls- a vegetable garden of hope. In Unit 5, offenders who are military Veterans, as well as men who participate in rehabilitation programming as mentors and Peer Support Specialists have a special incentive to supplement their recovery programs, by tending to the garden and enjoying the fruits of their labor.

HENNING – Earlier today the Tennessee Department of Correction welcomed new correctional officers into our workforce. The ceremony consisted of six Correctional Officers who will be serving our locations in West Tennessee at Northwest Correctional Complex (NWCX) in Tiptonville and West Tennessee State Penitentiary (WTSP) and Women’s Therapeutic Residential Community (WTRC) in Henning.

TIPTONVILLE – The latest round of mass COVID-19 testing at the Northwest Correctional Complex has now been completed.

MORGAN COUNTY – A group of East Tennessee residents and inmates have been charged in an extensive TDOC investigation into the introduction of contraband into state prisons.

MOUNTAIN CITY – The impact of COVID-19 has been undeniable. Everyone has been seriously affected by the virus and or the subsequent actions necessary to quell the spread and limit that impact as much as possible.

PIKEVLLE – Since March 2, a dark cloud has hung over the state of Tennessee; a small but deadly outbreak of tornadoes wreaked havoc across much of the state, leaving in its wake millions of dollars worth of damage.

PIKEVLLE – Inmates at the Bledsoe County Correctional Complex are recovering from COVID-19 with 580 of the 586 cases confirmed on April 18 completing 14 days of isolation and showing no symptoms.

HARTSVILLE – An inmate who was taken to a local hospital last week for an assessment has passed away. The 67-year-old man tested positive for COVID-19 while in the hospital and died Monday morning at 1:20 am.
