AmeriCorps Tennessee
For the 2025-26 program year, Volunteer Tennessee is funding 18 Tennessee AmeriCorps programs which will enable more than 1,400 AmeriCorps members to meet critical needs for over 41,000 people across Tennessee. Most of these programs focus on children and youth through mentoring, tutoring, and in-class teaching.
East Tennessee
Appalachian Regional Coalition on Homelessness (ARCH)
Appalachian Regional Coalition of Homelessness AmeriCorps members will perform housing placement services in 19 Supportive Service Provider Host sites. The goal is to help individuals transition to safe, healthy, and affordable housing. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will engage in outreach and survey of sheltered and unsheltered homeless during the annual Point-in-Time count, housing unit repair, and clean-up.

Clinch-Powell Resource Conservation & Development Council
The Clinch-Powell Resource Conservation and Development Council AmeriCorps members will tackle critical community needs in housing services, environmental stewardship/conservation, and not-for-profit capacity building in the primary regions of Middle and East Tennessee. Their goal is to provide economically disadvantaged individuals with housing services including resource support, assessment, education, identification of appropriate housing, and home repairs; providing individuals with education and training in energy-efficient and environmentally-conscious practices including sustainable energy and other natural resources, sustainable agriculture, and environmental stewardship; and expanding the capacity of 27 not-for-profit and state organizations through capacity-building activities and volunteer mobilization. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage volunteers engaged in direct service through service-learning opportunities developed to address the critical community needs identified.

Emerald Youth Foundation AmeriCorps members will support afterschool/summer programs in the Knoxville inner city. Their goal is helping to improve educational outcomes for economically-disadvantaged elementary through middle school students. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage additional volunteers who will be engaged in homework help, tutoring, fitness and recreation activities, and general program support.

Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee
As Tennessee’s only environmental corps, Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee AmeriCorps members will provide Environmental Education and Public Lands Improvements in Knox, Anderson, Blount, Grainger, Jefferson, Sevier, and Union counties. They will be responsible for providing education to 3rd-12th grade youth using a Better Environmental Education, Teaching, Learning, and Expertise Sharing (BEETLES)-informed model resulting in students demonstrating an increased knowledge of how to improve their local environment. In addition, at the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for providing treatment of 80 miles of road/trail and waterways and 1,500 acres of public lands, improving 65 miles and 1,200 acres. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage 850 volunteers who will be engaged in the treatment and improvement of public lands.

The Public Education Foundation AmeriCorps members will be teacher-residents in high-need Hamilton County K-12 schools. They will contribute to improvements in student achievement, engagement, motivation, and mindsets in those host classrooms and will complete the steps needed to earn teacher licensure. In addition, they will leverage volunteers to support the work and learning at host residency sites.

Tennessee’s Community Assistance Corporation
The Tennessee's Community Assistance Corporation (TCAC) AmeriCorps members will: 1) provide assistance in independent living services for low income individuals with disabilitiesand adults 55 and older; 2) prepare and distribute food, educate on food access for people in need; 3) provide youth engagement services to disadvantaged youth under 18 years of age; 4) assist families and individuals in need with resources and referrals to combat temporary crisis; and 5) contribute tocapacity building to nonprofits and Public Housing Authorities (PHA) to sustain, develop and expandprogramming for seniors, and youth.

Middle Tennessee
ArtistYear AmeriCorps members will serve in K-12 schools to expand schools' capacity to offer creative, artistic learning experiences in the Metro Nashville area. They will provide 24,000 hours of arts instruction for students and will leverage volunteers who support members in engaging their communities in the arts.

The Chattanooga 2.0 Literacy First AmeriCorps program places members in Hamilton County elementary schools to deliver intensive, evidence-based literacy interventions for K–2 students. With a focus on building foundational skills, the program seeks to increase literacy proficiency so that students are reading on grade level by 3rd grade.

Teach For America: Nashville-Chattanooga
Teach For America -- Nashville-Chattanooga AmeriCorps members will teach for two years in low-income and under-resourced schools in Nashville and Chattanooga. They will be responsible for increasing the academic achievement of the students they teach and will leverage volunteers engaged in supporting students in classrooms and schools.

The South Cumberland Plateau AmeriCorps Program members will address social determinants of health in rural Appalachia across and surrounding the South Cumberland Plateau, including access to food, education, economic stability, social and community context, and health care services.

West Tennessee
City Year Memphis aims to increase graduation rates and change the lives of its students by bridging the gap in high-poverty communities between the support that students need and what their schools are designed and resourced to provide. AmeriCorps members will provide whole-school services to approximately 1,500 students and individualized services to 420 students in five Memphis public schools.

Literacy Mid-South AmeriCorps members will provide programmatic support, including direct literacy interventions, to Literacy Mid-South's out-of-school time and community partners in focused geographic areas throughout Memphis as part of a wider community effort to saturate "Literacy Zones" with resources focused on whole family literacy. They will be responsible for providing equitable access to high-quality literacy interventions in historically underresourced communities.

Memphis Teacher Residency (MTR) AmeriCorps members will support classroom instruction as apprentice teachers while receiving training, coaching, and a Master in Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Memphis. They will increase student growth in the classrooms where they do their residency (apprenticeship) and leverage volunteers who will be engaged in various support roles in their schools and respective classrooms.

Porter-Leath AmeriCorps members will provide educational enrichment activities for Porter-Leath, serve Early Childhood students in the Porter-Leath Early Childhood centers in Memphis and Shelby County, and serve with Books from Birth. They will increase school readiness assessment scores for 80% of the students served who score significantly below their age range and/or have an established Individual Education Plan. Also, the Books from Birth AmeriCorps members will plan and participate in outreach activities to increase the number of children 0-5 years old who receive a monthly age-appropriate book delivered directly to their home and will leverage additional volunteers that will be engaged in literacy initiatives throughout the same centers.

Relay Graduate School of Education
The Relay Teaching Residency AmeriCorps members will serve economically disadvantaged students in its teacher preparation and service program in Memphis and Nashville. The members will be responsible for increasing academic performance for K-12 students; be poised for certification and a Master's degree; and serve as full-time teachers impacting students' educational and life outcomes in historically underserved communities.
