  • Tennessee Joins Antitrust Lawsuit against NCAA

    NASHVILLE – Today, Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti fulfilled his duty in enforcing our antitrust laws by joining six other states in filing a federal antitrust lawsuit on behalf of the State of Tennessee, challenging the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) transfer eligibility rule in order to stop unlawful conduct that harms both collegiate athletes in Tennessee and consumers of Tennessee college sports.

  • TN AG Skrmetti Announces Multistate Settlement with Healthcare Clearinghouse Inmediata

    Nashville – Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti announced today that Tennessee and 32 other attorneys general have reached a settlement with healthcare clearinghouse Inmediata for a coding issue that exposed the protected health information (“PHI”) of approximately 1.5 million consumers for almost three years. Under the settlement, Inmediata has agreed to overhaul its data security and breach notification practices and make a $1.4 million payment to states. Tennessee will receive $71,273 from the settlement.

  • Tennessee Attorney General Announces $49.5 Million Multistate Settlement with Blackbaud for Data Breach

    Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti announced today that Blackbaud, a software company, reached a settlement with 49 attorneys general for its deficient data security practices and response to a 2020 ransomware event that exposed the personal information of millions of consumers across the United States. Blackbaud will pay $49.5 million to states as part of the settlement, with Tennessee receiving $882,312.00.

    Nashville — Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti announced this week a settlement with Tempoe, LLC, that ends the company’s misleading leasing practices and relieves consumers of unfair payment obligations. The multistate investigation—which included 41 states and the District of Columbia—revealed that Tempoe’s marketing and sales practices misled consumers into signing complicated agreements with finance charges that could sometimes triple the cost of a product.
