The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in cooperation with the Tennessee Department of Transportation plans to hold a Public Hearing on August 22, 2019 at the Hazel Baptist Church, 301 Gilbert Street East, Hazel, Kentucky, 42049 between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm.  The objective of this project is to improve safety and mobility along the US 641 Corridor.

Improvements to US 641 between the Tennessee / Kentucky State Line (MP 0.00) and the Clarks River (MP 5.66) just south of Murray are planned to begin in late 2020.  Improvements in Tennessee will begin north of Puryear, Tennessee near Howard Road and extend to the Tennessee / Kentucky State Line but will advance on a different schedule.

Displays illustrating the alternatives studied and the preferred alternative lying primarily west of the existing US 641 corridor will be presented in the Gymnasium at the Hazel Baptist Church between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm.  At 6:00 pm, a brief presentation will be given in the Sanctuary of the Hazel Baptist Church followed by the opportunity for Public Hearing attendees to make public statements concerning the project.  A Court Reporter will record all public statements and will be available for taking attendees’ statements who may not wish to speak publicly.

Attendees at the Public Hearing will have the opportunity to review alternatives studied and the identified preferred alternatives in both Kentucky and Tennessee.  Representatives from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Tennessee Department of Transportation will be present and available to discuss information presented and to answer questions.  Representatives from the KYTC also will be available to discuss other issues of interest to the public including right-of-way acquisition in Kentucky.
