Work to Address Flooding Concerns to Close Portion of Central Pike

Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will conduct a full closure of State Route 265 (Central Pike) in Wilson County.

On Thursday, September 24, from 8 p.m. – 5 a.m., crews will close Central Pike from John Hagar Road to Earhart Road (approximately 2.3 miles). This closure is necessary to allow crews to replace two pipe culverts as part of drainage improvements to address flooding concerns in the area.

During the closure:

·         Westbound motorists can access Central Pike utilizing Earhart Road to John Hagar Road.

·         Eastbound motorists can access Central Pike utilizing John Hagar Road to Earhart Road.

·         Motorists traveling eastbound on Central Pike to access Chandler Road should follow the posted detour signage, as traffic will not be permitted to travel beyond Springdale Elementary School.

·         Motorists who live on Chandler Road or within the closure limits will be directed around the “Road Closed” signage to access their residences.

All work is weather-dependent. As always, drivers are reminded to allow additional time, slow down, and move over when traveling through a work zone. The Move Over Law was passed in 2006. The penalty for violating the law in Tennessee carries the possibility of up to 30 days in jail and a maximum fine of up to $500.
