Weekend Ramp Repairs Scheduled on I-24 in Rutherford County

Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will conduct ramp closures on Interstate 24 in Rutherford County.

Beginning the weekend of September 25 and continuing for four consecutive weekends, contracted crews will conduct intermittent lane and ramp closures along I-24 to facilitate concrete repair operations.

Each weekend, ramp closures are expected to begin with an overnight closure starting at 8 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday. The ramps will close again from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Sunday morning.

Motorists should use caution and remain alert to changing traffic conditions while traveling through the work areas. Advance signage will be in place to alert motorists of the closures and changes in traffic patterns.

A weekend-by-weekend schedule of the lanes and ramps planned for closure is provided below.

Weekend of September 25 – 26:

·         Exit 70 (Almaville Road) westbound off-ramp (full closure)

·         Exit 70 (Almaville Road) westbound on-ramp (full closure)

·         Exit 70 (Almaville Road) eastbound off-ramp (lane shift)

·         Exit 66 (Sam Ridley Parkway) westbound on-ramp (lane shift)

·         Exit 64 (Waldron Road) westbound on-ramp (partial closure)

Weekend of October 2 - 3:

·         Exit 66A (W Sam Ridley Parkway) eastbound off-ramp (full closure)

·         Exit 66B (E Sam Ridley Parkway) eastbound off-ramp (full closure)

·         Exit 70 (Almaville Road) eastbound off-ramp (lane shift)

·         Exit 66 (Sam Ridley Parkway) westbound off-ramp (lane shift)

·         Exit 64 (Waldron Road) westbound off-ramp (partial closure)

Weekend of October 9 – 10:

·         Intermittent nightly lane closures along I-24 in both directions from near Exit 66 (Sam Ridley Parkway) to Exit 70 (Almaville Road) for joint replacement operations.

Weekend of October 16 – 17:

·         Intermittent nightly lane closures along I-24 in both directions from near Exit 66 (Sam Ridley Parkway) to Exit 70 (Almaville Road) for joint replacement operations.

The closures are necessary to finish TDOT’s I-24 resurfacing project from the Davidson County line (near mile marker 63) to Baker Road (near mile marker 71), which is in TDOT’s 3-Year Pavement Plan.

All work is weather-dependent. As always, drivers are reminded to allow additional time, slow down, and move over when traveling through a work zone. The Move Over Law was passed in 2006. The penalty for violating the law in Tennessee includes the possibility of up to 30 days in jail and a maximum fine of $500.
