Emergency Bridge Repair to Close Ramp, Lane on I-40 in Davidson County
Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will conduct a ramp closure and lane closure on I-40 in Davidson County this weekend.
Beginning Friday, June 27, until Monday, June 30, at 5 a.m., crews with Bell Construction will close:
• The I-24 westbound ramp from Murfreesboro Pike (State Route 1/US 41) starting at 3 p.m. (red line in below graphic).
• One right lane of I-40 eastbound over I-24 near mile marker 213 starting at 8 p.m. (red line in below graphic).
• Shoulder closure on I-24 westbound ramp to I-40 eastbound (yellow line in below graphic).

Message boards will be in place to alert motortists, and detours will be in place. These closures are necessary for crews to repair a section of the I-40 bridge over I-24 where a pothole routinely opens.
As always, drivers are reminded to slow down, allow for extra time for travel, and move over when traveling through a work zone. The Move Over Law was passed in 2006. The penalty for violating the law in Tennessee can be up to 30 days in jail and a maximum fine of up to $500.
Motorists can alert TDOT to potholes by calling the TDOTFIX Hotline at 833-TDOTFIX or using this online form: TDOT Maintenance Request. The TDOT SmartWay Map (https://smartway.tn.gov) provides the latest construction activity traffic updates. Travelers can also call 511 for travel information.
