NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation today awarded the contract for the I-440 Reconstruction Project. The low bid was submitted by Kiewit Infrastructure South Co. at $152.9 million. The project will not include total closure of segments of I-440. Rather, the winning design-build proposal will complete design and construction of the project in less than two years.

TDOT contract crews will temporarily close a one-mile stretch of I-40 along the south loop of downtown Nashville for bridge repairs. The closure is scheduled for Friday, July 27 at 8:00 p.m. through Monday, July 30 at 6 a.m. Additional closures are scheduled for local streets underneath the bridge.

TDOT contract crews will begin work later this week to stabilize a section of US 127 (Signal Mountain Boulevard) in Hamilton County near log mile 15.97. Repairs are expected to take approximately eight weeks. During the repairs, the road will be reduced to one lane, and traffic will be controlled with a temporary signal.
