West Kentucky and Tennessee Telecommunications Broadband Grant

Due to low customer density, it didn’t make financial sense for internet providers to expand their services to Palmersville, a rural area in Weakley County. However, in 2019, West Kentucky and Tennessee Telecommunications (WK&T) was awarded a grant to provide the area with broadband access. This grant expanded WK&T services to over 1,000 homes, making activities such as remote work and online education possible. The community-based provider also made sure residents were aware of and able to utilize the new services through an outreach campaign including door-to-door canvasing, Wi-Fi setups, and digital literacy events.
