Tiptonville Sewer System Repairs

A white water tower labeled “Tiptonville, Tenn.” rises against a clear blue sky.

In 2019, Tiptonville received an Infrastructure Planning Grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD). The city used the grant funding to inspect 211 neglected sewer manholes, resulting in a report with repair and replacement recommendations. Tiptonville then utilized a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to carry out the needed repairs, leading to a reduction in wet-weather flows entering the sewage treatment lagoon. This project created huge cost savings and increased treatment capacity for industrial expansion at the Lake County Industrial Park and the Port of Cates Landing.
