Sweetwater Main Street Entrepreneur Grant

A group of people stands outside a bakery storefront holding a sign that reads “Grand Opening.”

In 2017, Sweetwater Main Street received a TNECD Main Street Entrepreneur grant to renovate an 1870s building into a space for retail and businesses. With the support of the grant funding, the building was transformed into a 10,00 square-foot space with a restaurant, rental assistance, and an incubator space for local entrepreneurs. Four new businesses housed at the location received free training through the Tennessee Small Business Development Center at Cleveland State Community College.

Additional Funding Information:
The Main Street Entrepreneur Grant has been discontinued, but similar projects to this one can be funded through the TN Placemakers Entrepreneurship Fund. The TN Placemakers program offers a pool of resources dedicated to assisting communities across the state, from rural to urban, to develop and train small businesses and entrepreneurs by allowing them to obtain funds for broad and diverse activities.
