South Cumberland’s Tourism Initiative: Mountains of Adventure

Mist drifts through a forested mountain valley, with rolling hills framed by tree branches.

In 2018, Grundy County created a tourism board to develop strategies for attracting more visitors. The board developed South Cumberland’s regional tourism website, “Mountains of Adventure,” and used state grant funding to finance upgrades to the site. Since the launch of the website and rebranding of each community’s tourism initiatives, the region has seen an increase in the number of visitors. Grundy County, for example, witnessed an increase of over $160,000 in annual hospitality tax revenue compared to 2017.
