Parker’s Crossroads Battlefield Trail Project

Parker's Crossroads Battlefield Trail Project

The Parker's Crossroads Battlefield Trail project is focused on the preservation and interpretation of the Parker's Crossroads Civil War battlefield. Here, on December 31, 1862, forces commanded by Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest were engaged by two federal brigades commanded by General Jeremiah C. Sullivan. The project received initial funding in 2008 and continued to receive funding through 2017. Phases 1-4 of the project provided for the construction of an asphalt trail system throughout both the northern and southern battlefield sites, including interpretive wayside signage, pedestrian amenities, restroom facilities, ADA accessibility, and landscaping.
