New Bus for Mt. Carmel Senior Center

Mt. Carmel Senior Citizens Center applied to receive a new, accessible bus through the FTA Section 5310 Program for the Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities.  The new bus will be used to provide transportation to senior center members, so they are able to get out in the community and participate in senior center activities.   The bus is fully accessible and can accommodate wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility devices. The Tennessee Department of Transportation administers a variety of public transportation grant programs including the Bus & Bus Facilities Program that made this project possible.

Federal Transit Administration Section 5310 Program: Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities  $116,093  

Note that this vehicle was funded at a special 100% federal match for Covid-19 relief.  The program is generally available at 80% Federal - 10% State - 10% Local match.
