Gibson County Industrial Park – Tyson Foods

Gibson County and Humboldt, in northwest Tennessee, embarked on a development journey in the late 1990s with the acquisition of 500 acres for an industrial park along Highway 45. Although the site had advantageous transportation access, it required significant improvements due to challenges like a dividing creek, lack of access roads, and utility extensions.
Participation in the TNECD's Select Tennessee Certified Sites Program in 2012, the TVA's InvestPrep grant in 2015, and the TNECD Site Development Grant Program in 2015 yielded substantial investments. These efforts led to a 50 percent increase in site visits in 2017, and successful collaboration with Tyson Foods for a new facility with the potential for 1,500 jobs. The November 2017 Tyson announcement marked the beginning of a significant project set to generate thousands of new jobs and regional economic growth.
