Hamblen County has a track record of attracting industry, boasting over 100 manufacturing operations. Some of the county's success can be attributed to proactive economic development, favorable geographical advantages like proximity to major cities, easy Interstate 81 access, and advantageous topography. Morristown has been a key player in industrial property development, including the creation of the East Tennessee Valley Industrial District, Airport Industrial Park, and the acquisition of the East Tennessee Progress Center (ETPC).

Through the TNECD Select Tennessee Property Evaluation Program (PEP), Morristown addressed infrastructure and property acquisition requirements, notably improving wastewater capacity and acquiring parcels to create larger sites. Morristown's Chamber of Commerce secured funding for Progress Park improvements, obtained Select Tennessee Site Certification, and actively marketed the region. Their proactive approach and strategic partnerships have positioned Hamblen County as a sought-after hub for new industries, driving economic growth and job opportunities.
