Duksan Electera America

Between 2016 and 2021, Shelbyville and Bedford County leaders received three site development grants from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) to conduct work on the 231 North Business Park site in preparation to compete for large economic development projects. The community used grant funds to clear the site, construct the road into the site, provide an entrance sign for the park, and extend utilities onto the property.
In 2022, Duksan Electera America, a subsidiary of a South Korean manufacturing company, chose 231 North Business Park as the site of their first North American factory. The new factory will produce electrolytes, a key component in batteries for electric vehicles. Duksan committed to $95 million in investment supporting the new factory, which will bring over 100 jobs to Bedford County. Without the grant-funded upgrades, the site would not have been able to accomodate a project of this size.
