Denny Cove

Denny Cove is a landscape-scale conservation project in which multiple public and private organizations worked together to add 676 acres to the South Cumberland State Park in Marion County. The project leveraged funding from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation's (TDEC) Heritage Conservation Trust Fund and other public and private opportunities.
The property is within priority areas identified by both the Tennessee State Wildlife Action Plan (SWAP) and the 2011 Cumberland Voices Conservation Vision for protecting scenic views, recreation opportunities, and biological diversity in the South Cumberland region. These priority areas include at least 20 rare plant and animal species marked as a “high priority” for protection. The forests surrounding Denny Cove will not be managed for timber, allowing terrestrial species to thrive. The property is now publicly accessible for recreational use including hiking and rock climbing.
