The Commissioner of Financial Institutions hereby announces that the maximum effective rate of interest per annum for home loans as set by the General Assembly in 2025, Public Chapter 290, for the month of October 2026 is 10.78 percent per annum. The maximum effective rate of interest per annum for home loans shall be set at an amount equal to four (4) percentage points above the average prime offer rate (APOR), as defined in 12 CFR 1026.35, that applies to a thirty-year fixed loan, as published by the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC), or its successor federal entity. For the most recent APOR statistical data available preceding the date of this announcement, the calculated rate is 6.78 percent.

NASHVILLE--Commissioner of Financial Institutions Greg Gonzales announced today that the maximum effective formula rate of interest in Tennessee is 10.75 percent per annum. The rate is based on a ceiling of 4 percent over the weekly average prime loan rate of 6.75 percent as published by the Federal Reserve on September 8, 2026.

NASHVILLE--- Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) biologists held their second annual Benthic Blitz covering 123 sites from 10 watersheds within the Upper Cumberland River Basin. They included the Caney, Collins, and Calfkiller Rivers. A benthic blitz is critical for maintaining wildlife diversity and aims to fill data gaps and targets rare animals such as bottom-dwelling snails, mussels, crayfish, and fish. Healthy aquatic ecosystems should have a wide range of species.

As part of an ongoing update to public-use maps for Tennessee’s state forests, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry (TDF) has updated Bledsoe State Forest maps to align with road-use designation signage already in place at the south end of the forest and to protect forest roads and trails that have experienced repeated, serious damage from off-highway vehicles (OHVs).
