About this event
The Parkers Crossroads Battlefield Association, in conjunction with the American Battlefield Trust, will host the annual Park Day event on the state-owned Parkers Crossroads Battlefield on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Activities will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 1:00 p.m. Events will commence at the Activities Building located at 150 Federal Lane, Tour Stop 7, at Parkers Crossroads, on the South Battlefield Park. The public is warmly invited to come and volunteer to help maintain the historic battlefield.
Park Day allows the American Battlefield Trust to cast a spotlight on beloved American landscapes nationwide. Projects will keep historic sites and battlefields clean, open, and accessible for the enjoyment of all. This year, Park Day projects include garden planting and maintenance with Master Gardeners, trash and leaf removal, marker clean-up, split rail fence repair, and more!
At 9:00 a.m. a local historian will give an overview of the battle of Parkers Crossroads on December 31, 1862. Following this, conservation activities begin at 10:00 a.m. Bring your rakes, hoes, shovels, and gloves. Water and restrooms are available.
In addition to the satisfaction of volunteer work, participants receive an official Park Day bandana. Park Day can also fulfill the service requirements associated with scout groups, student organizations, training corps programs, and many school systems.
