Cancer Reporting Facility Training
Welcome to the Introduction to Tennessee Cancer Registry for Cancer Care Abstractors online tutorial website. We are delighted you have entered our site. It is patterned around a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation "What Is A Cancer Registry?", which was created by one of our regional coordinators and presented at numerous locations across the state.
We realize staffing or scheduling issues often make it difficult for cancer registrars to attend on-site training sessions. It is our desire that this tutorial will provide a convenient way to assist you with learning basic cancer registry procedures, as well as enhance your skills as a cancer registrar. We hope the information provided will assist you with being successful in reporting incidence of cancer cases diagnosed and/or treated in your facility. We encourage you to complete all of the modules, especially if you are a new cancer registrar, then use the site as a resource tool from that point forward. Hopefully it will help your cancer registry experience go more smoothly.
Be assured the staff of the Tennessee Cancer Registry wishes to assist you with being successful in meeting the requirements of the Tennessee Cancer Reporting Act of 1983, amended May 2000, as well as the data collection requirements of the Tennessee Cancer Registry. Each region of the state is assigned a regional coordinator at the Tennessee Cancer Registry who will be your point of contact at the central registry. These coordinators are responsible for the oversight of cancer reporting activities for their regions, to include reviewing data for quality and completeness, delinquent reporting, audits and needs relating to training and assistance.
If you have any questions, please contact the staff of the Tennessee Cancer Registry.
This website has been designed to provide information about cancer reporting procedures. The collection and reporting of cancer data is a multi-step process. This site is composed of modules covering information related to those steps. Each module contains a learning objective, overview and quiz. Upon completion of all of the modules, a certificate of achievement will be awarded.
