Division of Health Disparities Elimination
Mission/Objective of DHDE
According to the World Health Organization, “Health equity is defined as the absence of unfair and avoidable or remediable differences in health among population groups defined socially, economically, demographically or geographically.”
The Tennessee Department of Health has a mission to create an environment where all people in Tennessee can achieve equitable and optimal health. We are committed to understanding the root cause of disparities and will continue to examine systemic barriers.
