7th Avenue Set to Reopen by Month’s End

The Department of General Services will start taking steps to reopen 7th Avenue between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Union Street starting on December 8. Over the next few weeks, fencing in the area will be removed, and crews will complete final work, including repaving, striping, and installing an ADA-accessible raised crosswalk with a speed table. The project is expected to wrap up by the end of December, at which point the street will fully reopen.
The sidewalk on the Tennessee Tower side of the street will remain open during this final phase. The State appreciates the public’s patience as major renovations to the War Memorial Building and Legislative Plaza continue.
