All personal inmate mail will be scanned and delivered digitally to inmate tablets. Legal mail will still be physically delivered to the facility.

TDOC has moved to electronic mail scanning, which means your mail gets scanned and converted to an electronic document that can be read for free by your incarcerated loved one using a tablet that is available in their housing area.

You must clearly write the TDOC ID number on the envelope since it is read electronically, and you must put ‘TDOC ID#’ in front of the number. If the TDOC ID number is not included and is not clearly written, it will not be delivered.
 

Yes.  Pictures will be scanned. Profanity and inappropriate photos will not be delivered.

No.  There is no cost to the inmate to read from the tablet.

The physical copy of the mail will be kept by the scanning facility for up to 90 days before it is destroyed but the inmate will be able to see the electronic version of the mail for the duration of his/her incarceration.

Mail is delivered within 1 to 3 business days after receipt at the P.O. Box.
