NASHVILLE – This morning the Tennessee Department of Correction had the opportunity to present the Department’s response to a recent audit before the Joint Subcommittee of Government Operations. We are pleased with the members’ decision to re-certify the Department and proud to share the excellent work of the more than 6,500 correctional professionals across the state.

Operation Blackout is designed to increase the safety of trick-or-treaters by giving sex offenders under TDOC supervision an additional layer of safety.

ROAN MOUNTAIN – Monday night the Roane Mountain community was one of the areas hardest hit by recent storms, receiving high winds and torrential rain that rose river levels by 6-10 feet in a matter of a few hours. Several roads were shut-down as bridges were either washed out or completely blocked by heavy debris.
JOHNSON CITY - Yesterday morning Tennessee Department of Correction Commissioner Tony Parker and Representative Johnny Shaw (D-Bolivar) hosted a Take One recruitment brunch at Muncey Memorial United Methodist Church. Take One is a collaboration between faith-based and non-profit organizations throughout the state to help offenders leaving correctional facilities to successfully re-enter society. Take One encourages each organization to agree to mentor one offender for one year.
JOHNSON CITY – The Tennessee Department of Correction will host a reception for the Take One program on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. Take One pairs offenders nearing release from prison with faith-based and nonprofit organizations and encourages each organization to mentor one offender with an additional layer of support to help them overcome barriers to successful reentry and become productive citizens.
NASHVILLE - As kids across Tennessee put the final touches on their costumes; the Tennessee Department of Correction is taking additional measures to keep them safe this Halloween season with the launch of Operation Blackout.
NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) is pleased to learn of a letter of congressional support regarding efforts to reduce contraband in penal facilities. Earlier today TDOC received a copy of the congressional letter addressed to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai and Commissioner Mignon Clyburn.
