Utility Installation Prompts Closure of SR 93 in Sullivan County
Motorists traveling on State Route 93 in Sullivan County should be aware of road construction activities that will affect traffic.
On Wednesday, May 13, and Thursday, May 14, between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., State Route 93 will be closed in each direction between Murrell Road and State Route 347 (Lone Star Road/Mill Creek Road) as crews install waterline pipe across the roadway. Local traffic will be permitted, but southbound motorists will not be able to access Derby Drive and will need to take the detour route along State Route 347.
This road closure will also be in place nightly from Monday, May 18, to Thursday, May 21. This schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use extreme caution in this area as workers will be present.
As always, drivers are reminded to use all motorist information tools wisely and “Know Before You Go!” by checking travel conditions before leaving for their destination. Drivers should never tweet, text, or talk on a cell phone while behind the wheel.
