HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 at I-24 Interchange Reconstruction Phase 2: Nightly Lane closures will regularly occur on this project, 9 PM to 6 AM, on I-75 North and South between Exit 1 (East Ridge) and Exit 3A (East Brainerd Road/ SR-320) and on I-24 East and West from Germantown Road to Spring Creek Road, MM182 to MM185, for various construction activities. These closures may temporarily reduce traffic to a single lane. Uniformed police officers will be present in these work zones to assist with traffic management and to enforce traffic laws. Nighttime lane closures from 8 PM to 6 AM are scheduled on I-24 East and West between Germantown Road and through the I-75 interchange for placement of permanent thermoplastic pavement markings, painting/texture coating of retaining/noise walls, and to work on various punch list items. This night work will continue weekly from Sunday through Thursday during the month of February and March. After 11 PM during these nights the contractor may also use rolling roadblocks in a moving operation to apply thermoplastic lane lines. At times this work may require the temporary closure of exit or entrance ramps from I-24 West and East to North and South Terrace. During these nighttime hours on Sunday (3/8) to Thursday (3/12), the contractor will also need to temporarily close the I-24 West entrance ramp from Germantown Road and the I-24 East exit ramp (Exit 183) to Germantown Road to repair and repave shoulders along the ramps. Message boards, signs and detours will be provided to warn motorists of all these ramp closures and to guide them to the next available exit or entrance ramp. The contractor will have daytime lane closures (9 AM to 3 PM) on North and South Terrace for various repairs, and to paint/texture coat retaining/noise walls. This work is scheduled to take place Monday through Friday, weather permitting, and will occur weekly through February and into March until completed. The contractor has begun working on shifting and opening all lanes on I-75 North and South in their final alignment. There will be nighttime lane closures (9 PM to 6 AM) on I-75 North and South, and during this work the exit ramp from I-75 North to East Brainerd Road (Exit 3A) will be temporarily closed to safely remove conflicting lane lines and establish the new final traffic lane alignment. Message boards, signs and detours will be provided to warn motorists of these closures and to guide them to an available exit ramp detour from I-75 North to East Brainerd Road. Tuesday (3/3) through Thursday (3/5) night (9 PM to 6 AM) the contractor will work on opening and shifting lanes at the junction of I-24 East (Exit 185B) and I-75 North. This traffic change will require repaving several traffic lanes along with removing conflicting lane lines and realigning traffic lanes. To safely perform this work, it will be necessary to temporarily close and detour the traffic from the Tennessee Welcome Center to I-75 North. Message boards and signs will be provided to guide welcome center traffic to I-75 North. Nightly (9 PM to 6 AM) lane closures will continue to occur on I-75 North and South from Sunday (3/1) through Thursday (3/5) next week as the contractor performs finishing work (grinding, repairs, sawing and sealing joints, etc.) on the concrete pavement in preparation for final striping. As this work progresses it will be necessary to temporarily close exit and entrance ramps to and from I-75 so that crews can safely work in these areas. Message boards, signs and detours will be provided to warn motorists of these closures and to guide them to the next available exit or entrance ramp. Most of the remaining work items on this project are temperature and weather sensitive. If any of them are canceled due to inclement conditions, they will be rescheduled to take place on the next available day and time when adequate conditions exist. It may also be necessary to do short duration (15 to 30 minutes) rolling roadblocks during the day or night for patching potholes, clearing debris or repairing guardrail, attenuators, etc. [Wright Brothers Construction Company, Inc./Maj Prj - Blevins/DB2101]
