TDOT Launches New Roadway Maintenance Partnership to Enhance West Tennessee Travel
Memphis, TN — The Tennessee Department of Transportation is pleased to announce a new Performance-Based Maintenance Contract that will enhance the safety, appearance, and reliability of more than 800 lane miles of roadway across Shelby and Fayette Counties.
The contract, awarded to DCS Asset Maintenance, LLC, covers key interstate routes including I-40, I-55, I-240, and I-269, as well as State Routes 300 and 385. The agreement took effect in January 2026, with on-the-ground work scheduled to begin April 5, 2026.
This five-year partnership, with the option for two additional two-year extensions, tasks DCS with delivering a wide range of high-quality, routine roadway maintenance services. DCS will provide mowing, litter removal, pothole repairs, sweeping, drainage improvements, guardrail repairs, signage upkeep, graffiti removal, snow and ice response, and 24/7 incident support.
“This performance‑based maintenance partnership reflects TDOT’s commitment to providing cleaner, safer, and more reliable roadways across West Tennessee,” said TDOT Commissioner Will Reid. “This $60 million investment—made possible by Governor Lee and the General Assembly—will bring meaningful improvements for motorists traveling through Shelby and Fayette Counties.”
Under the performance-based model, DCS is required to meet TDOT-defined standards, ensuring reliable and consistent maintenance, while allowing TDOT crews to focus on broader system improvements and long-term infrastructure needs.
In addition, DCS is supporting the local economy through hiring and partnerships with area subcontractors, with three operational facilities already established in Memphis. This contract represents a significant step forward in TDOT’s ongoing commitment to providing clean, safe, and dependable roadways for all who travel Tennessee’s transportation network.
