Construction Prompts Ramp Closures on Interstate 24 in Hamilton County
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Drivers traveling near the I-75 at I-24 interchange in Hamilton County should be aware of upcoming road construction activities that will temporarily impact traffic. As part of Phase 2 (the second of two projects) to widen and improve the I-75 at I-24 interchange, Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) contract crews will temporarily close the I-24 East entrance ramp from South Terrace, located across from South Lovell Avenue, to perform overhead lighting and wiring installation on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, weather permitting.
Drivers should use the I-24 East entrance ramp at Sharondale Road as an alternate route during this time. Message boards and a signed detour will be in place to guide drivers around the closure.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and expect delays. Drivers should follow all posted signage and remain alert to changing traffic conditions.
As always, drivers are reminded to use all motorist information tools wisely and Know Before You Go! by checking travel conditions before leaving for your destination. Drivers should never tweet, text, or talk on a cell phone while behind the wheel. Get the latest construction activity traffic updates from the TDOT SmartWay Map.
