Nobody Trashes Tennessee Partners with UT Athletics for No Trash November Event
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – University of Tennessee Athletics is teaming up once again with the Tennessee Department of Transportation's (TDOT) Nobody Trashes Tennessee and Keep Knoxville Beautiful as part of the 5th Annual No Trash November, a month-long statewide initiative encouraging Tennesseans to take part in cleanup events in their communities.
Student-athletes, UT Athletics staff, and community volunteers will come together to help keep the University of Tennessee campus clean during a special cleanup event. This collaborative effort highlights UT's ongoing commitment to community pride and environmental stewardship while supporting TDOT's mission to keep Tennessee's roadways and public spaces litter-free.
"The students, staff and faculty at the University of Tennessee have a tremendous amount of pride in our campus and the Knoxville community," said Jessica Wildfire, Ed. D., executive director for student athlete development, University of Tennessee Athletics. "We believe it is the responsibility of all Tennessee Vols to do our part to keep campus and our community clean and litter-free so anyone who visits can fully enjoy the beauty of this area. We appreciate the continued partnership with TDOT and Keep Knoxville Beautiful to kick off No Trash November in the state of Tennessee."
Director of Programs, Keep Knoxville Beautiful, Amanda Seale, added, "Keep Knoxville Beautiful is so excited to partner with TDOT and UT for the 5th annual No Trash November. KKB's annual No Trash November Cleanup, in collaboration with TDOT and UT, is one of our absolute favorite events. We find it so inspiring to see so many UT students take ownership of their adopted community by picking up litter from the roads near campus."
Last year's No Trash November included more than 175 events, with over 2,400 volunteers collecting more than 68,000 pounds of litter from the state's roadways. "Each year, we're inspired by the continued partnership with the University of Tennessee and Keep Knoxville Beautiful," said Victoria Cooper, Team Lead for TDOT Highway Beautification. "Their ongoing commitment and action demonstrate the meaningful impact volunteers have when they come together toward a shared goal and responsibility for a clean and litter-free community."
Throughout November, all cleanup activities earn three times the points in Nobody Trashes Tennessee's Trash Masters Rewards program! This statewide initiative encourages Tennesseans to join the movement to stop litter across our communities. Now is the perfect time to get involved. Points can be redeemed for discounts at local businesses and exclusive swag. It's a fun and rewarding way to help keep Tennessee beautiful while being recognized for your commitment to a cleaner, greener state.
